From the Pastor:
SAVED TO BE GOD’S PEOPLE/GOD’S POSSESSION
Salvation is becoming the people that God has always wanted. We are “saved” that we can be God’s people. We are “saved’ for God – God’s own possession.
Genesis begins with the creation and fall of man and ends with the creation of a people through the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen 12, 15 & 17).
Exodus begins with a cry to, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.” (Ex 4), finds forgiveness through the blood of the Passover lamb (Ex 12), and hears their destiny through God’s promise, “you shall be My own possession” (Ex 19:5).
Leviticus, Numbers & Deuteronomy is the preparation process of becoming God’s people. In the wilderness they were free, but consumed with “self” and the “world” they had just come out of. This was the place of dealing with soulish ways and learning God’s ways. “You are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession…” Deut 7:6
The Book of Joshua is an entering into the promise land of serving and worshipping God as His people. Joshua said, “…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Josh 24:15
The wonder of the gospel is that, “once we were not a people, but now we are the people of God…” 1 Pet 2:10 through, “Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us…and purify for Himself a people for His own possession…” Titus 2:13-14.
